Cantera Mykonos

Frequently asked questions

The things people ask before they book — where we are, when we open, what meat sushi actually means, and how to catch the sunset from the table.

Where is Cantera Mykonos?

Cantera is on the waterfront in Little Venice, Mykonos Town, facing the windmills. Mykonos Town is pedestrian, so the last stretch is on foot whichever way you arrive.

What are the opening hours?

Cantera opens at 6pm and serves until 1am, every day.

How do I book a table?

Book online through the reservation page, or call +30 22890 77404. You can also send a message on WhatsApp to +30 694 619 4888, or write to reservations@canteramykonos.com.

What is meat sushi?

Sushi is a set of techniques before it is a set of ingredients — how a cut is trimmed, how thinly it is sliced, how briefly it meets heat, how it is seasoned and pressed. At Cantera those techniques are applied to premium beef: nigiri, rolls, tartare, carpaccio, tataki and crispy rice.

What is served from the grill?

Steaks and grilled cuts: Black Angus entraña, picanha, beef fillet and Iberian pork pluma.

Are there vegetarian dishes?

Yes. The Cantera Vegetarian Experience is a seven-course tasting menu at €60 per person: edamame, avocado salad, crispy rice with burrata and cherry tomatoes, a courgette, carrot and turnip carpaccio, avocado, cucumber and mango hosomaki, a plant-based burger with grilled seasonal vegetables, and dessert.

How much do the tasting menus cost?

The Cantera Experience is €130 for two and the Cantera Premium Experience is €160 for two, both served per table. The Cantera Vegetarian Experience is €60 per person.

What time does the sun set, and when should we book to see it?

Sunset moves a long way through the season: about 8.45pm in late June, around 8.10pm in the middle of August, nearer 7.15pm by late September. Arrive about an hour before it sets — we open at 6pm — and you get the blue hour, the drop and the afterglow from the table.

What is there to drink?

Cocktails, wine and champagne, beer including Mikònos craft beer, soft drinks, still and sparkling water, and espresso.

What is Mamma Mia Night?

A night co-hosted with Mamma Mia, on Fridays and Saturdays, with doors at 9pm and a €20 deposit per person. It is booked through its own page rather than the restaurant’s.

Is there a dress code?

Smart casual.

Do I need to book in advance?

Booking ahead is better in every month of the season, not only in July and August. The indoor room books with no deposit; the other areas are confirmed with a deposit through the reservation page.

Is there a minimum spend or prepayment?

It depends on where you sit. The indoor room books with no deposit and no minimum spend. The other areas — the seats with the view — are confirmed with a €50 deposit per guest, which is not an extra charge: it is redeemed against your bill, and carry a minimum spend per guest; if the party arrives smaller without 24 hours' notice, the minimum for the booked number still applies.

What is the cancellation policy?

Where a deposit applies, cancel at least 7 days before the reservation and it is refunded in full. The table is held for 15 minutes past the booked time; after that the reservation is treated as cancelled and any deposit is retained. In adverse weather we contact you on the day, and one option is moving the table to a different section.

Are children welcome?

All ages are welcome with parental supervision. Include children in the reservation whatever their age: up to 5 years there is no minimum spend, ages 6 to 15 pay half the minimum spend, and over 15 the same minimum as adults.

Can you cater for allergies or gluten-free?

Yes, including coeliac guests — the kitchen adapts. Tell us about any allergy or intolerance when you book, or tell your waiter.

How much does dinner cost per person?

À la carte, expect around €50 per person with drinks. The tasting menus are €130 for two, €160 for two, and €60 per person for the vegetarian one.

How do we get there, and where can we park?

Mykonos Town is pedestrian, so the last stretch is on foot. Park at the port public parking or the Fabrica public parking; in the Fabrica area there is also valet parking, for a fee.

Can we come as a group, or book the restaurant privately?
